Today's email comes courtesy of a JB cock up.
On Monday I was doing my session of
deadlifts, 4 sets of 4, beltless (oddly has been making my back injury feel a lot better) at 180kg. Something that's relatively routine for me.
I loaded the bar up, pulled my first rep and thought:
"Christ, this feels heavy!"
I carried on to pull it for the remaining 3 reps, and then for another 2 sets. Before the time for the last one came around, I decided to actually check the weight on the
bar.
It was 200kg.
So, I'd essentially pulled a weight I'd never even done for one set without a belt on, for three sets... accidentally.
This shows the power of your mind.
Even without consciously having self limiting beliefs, I was *thinking* of lifting a weight that was about 10% less than what I was ACTUALLY capable of.
Let this be a lesson to
you:
We are capable of achieving way more than we know.
Self belief is so bloody important, and this as a psychological aspect definitely influence the physiological.
Put belief into your training plan, your nutrition plan, belief in yourself, and if you have one, belief into your coach.
None of this comes easy, so set yourself up for success. Too many people make
things way too hard for themselves and get used to failing and falling flat on their arses.
Make your diet and training as easy as possible and tally up those little victories... over time you can build this up and you'll crush it, bit by bit.
Don't know how to do this? Hit reply and I can help.
Much
love,
JB
